Cycling and walking from Resort de Arendshorst

Resort de Arendshorst is situated in a nature reserve of 200 hectares, in the middle of the Overijssel Vechtdal, surrounded by water, forests and meadows. Resort de Arendshorst is therefore the ideal starting point for beautiful cycling and walking tours or a nice place to take a rest break.

De Vecht winds its way through the beautiful landscape and passes through picturesque villages, country estates, forests and heathland. A landscape in which past times have been preserved and where you still find plenty of space and peace. An area that lends itself perfectly to sturdy walking shoes and a backpack filled with local products, but where you also can enjoy cycling, canoeing or just a beautiful village or town.

Cycling and Walking network

Resort de Arendshorst is located directly on a bike path that is connected to the cycling and walking network. You can compose your own bike tour through the junction points. This way you can explore the most beautiful places in the Vechtdal by means of junctions. For the walkers there are the long-distance hiking trails. There are special poles with different blocks that clearly indicate the route. If you want to be well prepared for your cycling or walking tour or if you just like to have a map of the cycling and hiking trails in the Vechtal in your pocket? No problem. The current junction map of the area is available at the reception.

Surprisingly cycling and walking

The Vechtdal is an stretched out environment where you can find many different types of landscapes. This makes the Vechtdal a wonderfully varied cycling and hiking area where you will be surprised by the landscape after every bend. How about a cycling or walking tour through the idyllic landscape with its picturesque hamlets, century-old thatched farms and many animals such as deer, storks, hares, rabbits, badgers, owls and many other different birds? Cycling and hiking with a view of the river Vecht is of course also possible.

Cycling from Resort de Arendshorst

The cycle path that was built by Varsen runs directly past Resort de Arendshorst. The ideal base for your cycling or walking holiday in the Vechtdal in Ommen. From Resort de Arendshorst you can cycle through the meadows, forests, along an arm of the Vecht and cycle over the bicycle bridge to the pleasant town of Ommen. To the south of Ommen you will find the Lemelerberg and the Archemerberg. The Lemelerberg and Archemerberg form a beautiful nature area with woods, heath and rocks. Ideal for a nice walk to enjoy the beautiful view. When you follow the other side of the bike path, you will reach the weir via forest paths and sandy roads. There you can cross the Vecht to the small village of Vilsteren. The beautiful Huis Vilsteren and the Catholic Willibrordus Church are worth a visit. You can also follow the path along the Vecht towards Dalfsen. Here are several nice shops and terraces. Rechteren Castle and Huize den Berg are easy to reach by bike and are part of the beautiful Castle Route. On the route to Dalfsen you will find a lookout tower with a beautiful view over the Vecht valley. You can also use the free bike ferry.
